Farm Credit SEMO Awards 2025 AgSunrise High School Scholarships

SIKESTON, MO. – Farm Credit Southeast Missouri awarded four $1,500 scholarships to local high school seniors this spring. 

We are happy to announce the 2025 AgSunrise High School Scholarship recipients:

Tessah Dowd, Woodland High School. Tessah is the daughter of James and Saliena Dowd of Glenallen and plans to attend Jefferson College to pursue a degree in Veterinary Technology. Her career aspiration is to be a Veterinary Technician. 

Alice Kenedy, New Madrid County Central. Alice is the daughter of Gary and Christie Kenedy of Matthews and plans to attend the University of Tennessee-Martin to pursue a degree in Agriculture Business. Her career aspiration is to work in agriculture marketing. 

Tucker Hughes, Richland High School. Tucker is the son of Don Hughes and Hollie Wheeler of Essex and plans to attend Arkansas State University to pursue a degree in Agriculture Business. His career aspiration is to continue working on his family’s farming operation.

Layla Tompkins, Twin Rivers High School. Layla is the daughter of Daniel and Amber Tompkins of Qulin and plans to attend Three Rivers College to pursue a degree in Agriculture Business. Her career aspiration is to become a crop insurance adjuster. 

“Each year Farm Credit provides scholarships, through our AgSunrise Program, to students pursuing a degree and career in agriculture,” said Heather Couch, VP and Branch Manager-Sikeston. “Farm Credit is proud of these students and their chosen career paths. Agriculture is the foundation of our country, and we need strong leaders who will continue to lead in this industry. Congratulations to all our award recipients! Since 2020, Farm Credit Southeast Missouri’s AgSunrise Scholarship Program has awarded $54,000 in scholarships to both local high school seniors and enrolled college students pursuing a career in agriculture.
